We always recommend a VRA before the engagement of any Private Maritime Security Company (PMSC) services, but also offer several types of PMSC evaluation services, from desktop assessments to on-board audits.
Threat Assessments
-
A threat assessment is an in depth, analytical analysis of existing or future threats for specified client operations in a defined area or on a defined route. The TA provides a basis for decision-making and contracting and can also be used to support or validate policymaking.
-
The threat briefing is a short assessment based on current threat developments. It is not vessel or operation-specific. It provides a basic threat overview that can be used for a basis for preliminary decision-making or for general situational awareness.
-
The Port Security Threat Assessment, or PSTA, provides a complete overview of the risks and threats for a specific port. It contains threats and risk classifications as well as maps, an overview of the port, and descriptions of the current political and conflict developments, if applicable.
Port-related reports:

The Port Security Assessment (PSA) provides a similar assessment to the PFSA, but will also take into account the specifications and details of different sections of a port and its adjacent areas, if these have an impact on security in the port.
-
The Port Facility Security Assessment (PFSA) analyses all aspects of a port facility's operation to identify the port facility’s vulnerabilities. The PFSA is an essential and integral part of developing and updating Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP).
-
As the PFSP, the Port Security Plan (PSP) is developed in close cooperation with the port´s administration to ensure the security plan includes specific national requirements. The security plan will address the specifications and details of different sections of a port, and will integrate the security plans for port facilities within their boundaries.

Risk Intelligence has many years of experience with the organisation and implementation of port security exercises. We run these in collaboration with the organisation and authorities to ensure the exercises meet the respective requirements of the ISPS code.
We also run frequent training exercises to support implementation of the security plan, and offer education such as PFSO courses, ISPS Awareness Certifications and ISPS Beginner’s courses.
