Monthly Intelligence Report June 2024

This month’s issue of the Monthly Intelligence Report covers incidents that took place between May 1 - 31, 2024, in three focus regions:

• Western Indian Ocean (including the Persian Gulf)

• South East Asia

Focus topic: Migration in the Mediterranean

This month, we are taking a look at migration routes across the Mediterranean. With an increase in the number of migrants trying to reach Europe forecast for this year, there may be significant implications for merchant ships following rescue missions. While routes across the central Mediterranean will likely remain the most prominent, other routes could also see an uptick in numbers. 

In addition, the report provides a brief update on the maritime implications of the war in Ukraine.
