PORT SECURITY RISK:

Resources on the threat to smart ports of cyberattacks

Port cybersecurity:
The threat of cyberattacks to smart ports

With the increased digitalisation and computerisation of the world's ports comes not only more efficient and smooth port operations – but also the threat of small and large cyberattacks, some with the potential to interrupt operations entirely.

On this page, we’ve collected our resources on the threat of cyberattacks to ports and fleets to provide an updated picture of the situation and efforts, as well as an outlook for 2021, and a greater understanding of how to mitigate the threat.

WHICH TOOLS AND REPORTS DO YOU NEED FOR COMPLETE PORT SECURITY?

Choosing the right tools is essential to accurately assess the specific risk to your port given an existing or suspected threat.

The Risk Intelligence System is an essential tool for day to day risk planning, access to threat assessments and integration of incident alerts, while the Port Security Risk Assessment is a comprehensive and specific report used to obtain a complete risk overview, and enable risk planning and informed decision-making on mitigation measures and improvements.

Risk Intelligence System

"PortRisk helps us make comprehensive security assessments," says the Corporate Security Manager of Saipem, a long-term user of the Risk Intelligence System.

PortRisk is used by both our maritime clients and land-based logistics and supply operators, who need up to date, valid intelligence to protect assets and transports in and around global ports. PortRisk offers in-depth port risk assessments, incident alerts, area overviews and threat assessments, helping Masters and Security Officers assess risk when approaching various ports.

To get access to incident alerts, reports and the 24/7 Duty Watch team, request a free trial for up to 5 users in the context of your operations:

Port Security Risk Assessment

A Port Security Risk Assessment is a comprehensive report used for decision-making, planning purposes and risk management. It assists the organisation in obtaining an improved understanding of the risk and/or how to mitigate it.

A PSRA identifies threats and risks in a specific port and the nearby city, including the vulnerability of the port. Furthermore, the PSRA may include, information about emergency units visited, present security forces available, authorities and services provided by local security contractors in addition to crew change and shore leave conditions, evacuation options etc.
