How might different potential scenarios for peace in Yemen play out - and how will they affect maritime security? Our latest ‘what if’ whitepaper outlines three possible outcomes and their significance for maritime trade in the Bab el Mandeb.

The insecurities in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden are mainly due to the Civil War in Yemen. Even if the conflict is primarily a land-based one, it also has a maritime dimension. In addition, the conflict's regional dimension was highlighted throughout the targeted attacks in Saudi Arabia and UAE.

The whitepaper provides three different scenarios for an end to the conflict, one of them is assessed to be the more likely and is described in detail with potential variations.
