Egypt is emerging as a powerhouse in the energy sector, thanks to significant offshore finds, but also its developing energy infrastructure and policy. This evolution is a promising sign for the oil and gas industry and the many maritime contractors needed.

Much of this owes to Egypt’s reaction to the many crises since 2013. Following significant efforts in exploration and exploitation, it now exports energy, when it used to import a large portion of its needs barely six years ago. However, it is not all smooth sailing from here.

Securing its energy supply and the goal of becoming an energy hub have led Egypt to take drastic measures, including territorial concessions. Egypt’s increasing energy role has also meant substantial increases in naval military capabilities. This whitepaper outlines the complete picture and what it might mean for commercial operators.
